ABSTRACT
The majority of nurse aid students have been suffering under stress, anxiety and dissatisfaction to go forward into in-service at hospitals. To serve as a nurse aid, it is requisite to pass the 9-months training without attrition. This was an introduction of the mindfulness-based program for them to cope with stress they had to face during the training. This study aimed to compare the difference in difference mean change of the Perceived Stress Scores (PSS), the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scores (GAD), the Satisfaction with Life Scores (SWLS) and serum cortisol level before and after 8-week of intervention. It was a quasi-experimental study conducted among 0 nurse aid students ( participants in intervention group and participants in control group) at the 7 tertiary hospitals in the Yangon Region from st week of February to th week of March, 0. The mindfulness-based program consisted of -hour meditation for days, 0-minute aerobic physical exercise for days, 0-minute group discussion for day as formal practice and home practice (mindful eating and mindful movement) for 7 days as informal practice per one week for a total of 8 weeks. Data collection was done by asking questionnaire for (PSS), (GAD) and (SWLS) and by drawing out blood samples to test serum cortisol level.

Inclusion criteria were both gender, students who were under training in tertiary hospitals as the intervention group and students who were under training in tertiary hospitals as the control group.
DISCUSSION
Goto
In the present study, a significant reduction of perceived stress after 8-week intervention of the mindfulness-based program was observed within the intervention group but there was a slight increasing of stress within the control group. The other studies have been shown the similar findings, for example, the similar populations such as registered nurses at Robert Morris University, Pennsylvania, nursing students at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, nursing students at Midwestern University, United States of America and nursing students who completed a -week online mindfulness intervention.-7
